Meet Dr. Alan Shaw

Alan B. Shaw, DDS, MD

Dr. Alan B. Shaw, DDS, MD is excited to provide care for the community of Orange County. As a board certified oral surgeon with both medical and dental degrees, he is backed by training at some of the top universities and training programs in the nation. Dr. Shaw is known for his great chairside manner, both with adults and children, as well as excellent communication skills and surgical expertise. 

Dr. Shaw was born and raised in San Diego.  After graduating valedictorian from his high school, he attended Stanford University, where he finished his degree in three years. He earned his dental degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and received numerous awards including valedictorian of his class, the Dean’s Scholarship, and induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, and Tau Kappa Omega Honor Societies. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency and medical degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Dr. Shaw has undergone extensive training in the major aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including but not limited to anesthesia, treatment of medically complex patients, dental implants, dental extractions, wisdom teeth removal, repair and reconstruction of the maxillofacial region, pathology, and orthognathic surgery. He has certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Orange County Dental Society, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, California Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southern California Orofacial Academy, and Academy of Osseointegration.

Outside of the office, Dr. Shaw enjoys spending time with his wife, Julianne, a general dentist, daughter, and two dogs.  He has a passion for growing vegetables and fruit trees, hobby board games, and all outdoor activities, including swimming, hiking, camping, and disc sports.
